1111 North Main St was built in 1934 & was the Kingman hospital. Somewhere around 1965 that same building became Kingman girls home & housed teenage girls in state custody. Between 1975 & 1980 The Kingman girls home became Main Place Youth, Inc., a Teen Challenge adolescent girls program for girls 12 to 18 who were privately placed by their parents into a 12 to 18 month faith based program due to multiple different life controlling issues. This building has been a part of transforming girls lives for over 43+ years! Some of the updates in the building have been a sprinkler system throughout all of the main building along with a security system that will stay with the building. In the last three years all eight of the AC units on the main building & chapel building on the west side of the property have been replaced. The unit that sits on the north end of the building at the kitchen area is the most updated and was replaced in July 2, 2020. The residence of the program lived on the main floor along with the offices. The second floor has too cute three bedroom apartments where staff resided. The south end of the basement has been updated to include a exercise room, art room area, therapy room, restroom, library & classroom for the girls during online schooling times. The building on the west side of the property is a Chapel/recreation area with two bathrooms that can be used for a great meeting room or continued recreation room or other types of programs. The south end of the back building is used for lawnmowers, weedeaters & bicycles. There are 8 parking stalls in the back of the building & 8/9 up front.
